The African Vocal Ensemble
Amanzi
(meaning River) come from several different parts of South Africa, one of the
most multiracial and multiethnic countries in the world. They come together
bringing to Riverdance the beautiful singing of their native country,
which, like Ireland, has a long and rich oral tradition. In fact, though
thousand of miles apart, both the Irish and the African peoples share many
similarities in their history and their culture and, as with the Irish,
generations of Africans have found themselves on foreign shores, finding
spiritual succour by raising their spirits with song and dance.
